Solar panels are becoming more and more popular, but when most consider the price thats another story. There is a way to make your very own solar panels and it takes just a few simply tools. By wiring solar cells it’s a cheaper way to make solar panels without breaking the bank and I’m going to show you how.
First thing first this a list of things you will need:
*Solar Cells
*Pen style soldering gun
*Copper wire two gauges
*Plywood
*Glass
*Some caulk
*and a UV Guard
Now lets get started.
When buying your solar cells you want to make sure that the size stay consistent and the energy output, otherwise you wouldn’t have equal power running through your solar panels. You should use enough copper so that you are using the same piece of wire from every panel in that row.
Next, you want to solder the copper wire to the solar cells. Above I recommend using the pen style soldering gun because it makes the application a lot easier and that’s what we want to make it easier. Now when organizing the solar cells you want to start and end with the same cell you started with. That means if you start with a positive solar cell you want to end in one and vice-versa.
That being the front is positive and the back is negative. No matter how you organize you solar panels you will always end up with an odd number of cells in a series and same with positive. It’;s important that when placing your positive and negative wired that you place them on opposite ends, because you don’t want them to touch. Now that I have showed you how to do the wiring it’s time for you to take it from here.
